Casein as a painting medium

History of using casein as a painting medium goes back thousands of years to cave paintings discovered in Asia. Later, the casein medium was used by Egyptian, Byzantine, Roman and Renaissance painters including the Old Masters.

Pure casein in powder form

Casein is a fast-drying, aqueous medium using a milk-based binding agent, and is one of the most durable mediums known to man.

With time, casein paintings become resistant to moisture and as history has proven, the medium has a durability and permanence, which has easily stood the test of time.

High-grade pigment

Only high-grade pigments will quarantee the permanence of final work. When carefully prepared and mixed with casein medium, they provide an excellent archival medium surpassing in many aspects oil and other painting media.

Mortal and pestle.

Mortal and pestle provides very useful and easy to use tool for mixing casein medium with pigments.
