Technique

I usually work on rigid panel, building the main composition as a texture applied in several successive layers of casein gesso. Texture, with its ability to provide shadows, is an important ingredient in most of my works.

Next stage, I apply several layers of casein paint based on casein-medium mixed with pure pigments, searching for right composition of colors.

Technique alone seems meaningsless, but without it painter would be restricted by lack of means to express himself. Casein, when used properly, provides one of most versatile and permanent painting mediums allowing to be applied in wide spectrum of different ways.
